RESEARCH / VERSION 1.1 / 16 OCTOBER 2026
On the Record: what happened next
What response followed the recorded statement?
Coverage: 41 archive entries; 41 bounded checks completed. 26 entries have sourced events; 15 checks identified no event in inspected sources. Outstanding questions remain open. A limited search is not proof that no response exists.
Findings and their limits
41 archive entries, 38 documented event rows across 26 entries. Fifteen bounded checks identified no event; they remain open research gaps. Some rows have multiple descriptive labels, so category totals are not additive.
Six later events have been added for Alan Feeney and Jamie Campbell, including reported council complaints processes, employment action, a party decision and a personal response. The source and status are distinguished: an investigation is not a breach finding, and reported statements are not silently upgraded to original official decisions.
Rowan’s later status and Dunning’s individual disciplinary status remain unresolved within the checked sources. Current questions appear alongside each chronology; the original archive dates are preserved.

Methods and selection
Unit of analysis
One frozen archive entry, containing zero or more incident-specific events. Stable event IDs distinguish individual events from the person and archive entry.
Inclusion and coverage
All 41 archive entries in the 14 October frame received bounded checks. Search involved the original source and targeted person/incident/response queries. The original full search-results log is unavailable. The frame does not automatically include later additions to the wider archive.
Coding and checks
- Use separate event categories for criticism/response, party procedure or decision, employment action, acknowledged official investigation, regulatory/administrative finding, criminal charge and conviction. Do not total these as sanctions.
- Source provenance distinguishes original official material, journalism quoting an identified official, other reporting, party/advocacy accounts and republication. Provenance is not a numeric truth score.
- No event identified in checked sources is an open research gap. Announced referral is not an acknowledged investigation. Party discipline is not a legal finding. Unrelated proceedings are excluded.
- Record event date, publication/update date and source-check date separately. Reinstatement, acquittal, correction and overturned decisions must be retained alongside the initial event.
Selection-history limitation
The first pilots were assembled through purposive discovery and source checking. Their complete original search-engine query/results history was not retained, so the first selection cannot be replayed exactly. This limitation is not repaired by writing a retrospective systematic-search claim. Published records and transformations can be reproduced from the supplied files; prospective expansion protocols below define the next collection work.
Prospective expansion protocol
For each unresolved entry, log the exact incident search, sources checked, cutoff, possible later decision and why any candidate is excluded. Seek original court, council, regulator or party records where available; label journalistic reporting honestly when originals cannot be retrieved.
Interpretation limits
A bounded archive and incomplete reporting do not establish rates of misconduct, sanctions or impunity across a political population.
Dates and accountability
Release date is the date of this publication. reviewed_at records a stated evidence check, not proof that every fact remains current. Publication date, event date, reference period, document version and source-check date are separate fields.

| limitations | Record-specific boundary on interpretation. |
| raw | Underlying typed source/coding fields; null remains missing, not zero. |
| events.event_id / event_types | Stable event ID and descriptive multi-label classification; labels must not be summed as separate events. |
| source_provenance / scope_relation | Origin of evidence and whether it concerns the specific statement or a wider party response. |
| source_publication_date / date / reviewed_at | Publication, event and evidence-check dates retain distinct meanings. |

Corrections, funding and interests
Send the record identifier, proposed correction and supporting primary source to policy@civillibertiesaction.org.uk. Corrections are assessed against the same evidence rules for all subjects. Responses, reversals and corrected outcomes receive the same factual prominence as initial decisions. Substantive changes require a dated new release and a change-log entry; the old files remain available.
CLA's existing funding and interests statement applies. Its founder has disclosed Labour Party membership. The same inclusion, identity and correction rules apply regardless of political affiliation. Read the declaration.
